CAPITOL PIAZZA

Shopping. Lifestyle. Hospitality.

Background

Designed by Keys and Dowdeswell and completed by the early 1930s, the building was originally known as Namazie Mansions and was later renamed Shaws Building when Shaw Organisation purchased it in 1946. Thereafter the Singapore government acquired the building and relaunched it as the Capitol Building in 1992. In 2014 a redevelopment project was completed consisting of Singapore’s largest cinema cum theatre complex, a 6 star luxury hotel & retail shops. Capitol Piazza and Capitol Theatre were born.

Brief

To conceptualise a retail kit for Capitol Piazza that would attract tenants for the retail mall and position Capitol Piazza and Capitol Theatre as a retail and entertainment mecca, offering a myriad of high-end luxury brands and
world-renowned F&B outlets. The development was to serve as a cultural hub for performing arts.
